An unofficial Rust port of Distant Horizons by James Seibel and contributors: the world past your render distance, drawn at lower detail the farther it is.
Settings: Options > Mods > Distant Horizons. In chat: /dh for status, /dh distance 512, /dh quality high, /dh debug on and more (Tab completes them).
Native source mod: install it on the launcher's Mods page, press Build there and confirm the native-code warning. The launcher downloads its own Rust and builds a separate game (10–30 minutes the first time). It runs with your account's permissions.
Pinned to Horizon nightly d009ebd140476b5bdc958c00f56a75e82abec691 (2026-10-29) and Horizon Mixins 0d6b103c70633d8fd9443d8d0acd3aadaacedb06; the launcher builds these exact revisions. Other Horizon revisions have not been validated. It builds together with Horizon's official native mods; it can't be built with a native mod pinned to a different Horizon commit. Turn Video Settings > LOD Distance off: Horizon's own far terrain draws in the same place.
Known limits: heavy at 256+ chunks (about 30–40 fps on an Apple M5 MacBook Pro); water at LOD edges can show see-through walls.
LGPL-3.0, as Distant Horizons; its copyright notices are kept. Not made or endorsed by the Distant Horizons team. No Minecraft code or assets are included. Ported by Deniz Şahin with Claude (Anthropic).
A native mod is Rust code that the launcher compiles into a game of its own, the Native mods instance. It is not sandboxed: it can do anything you can on this computer. The launcher builds it only after a warning that names it, and a reviewer read its source before it was listed. Read the source yourself before you build it. How native mods work
